The shells are 100% maple and produce a warm and resonant sound that can be used in many modern styles of music. High quality shell hardware such as True Pitch tension screws, Dual Turret tensioning brackets and triple flanged steel tension hoops round out the shells. The Suspension Tom Mount (STM Mount) and the cast tensioning claws for the bass drum meet professional demands. Equipped with Remo heads and a state-of-the-art FinishPly outer layer in matte color, the PDP Concept Maple Series offers excellent pro features and a hip appearance. A tom holder is included, if required a matching snare drum can be purchased as an option. The name Concept Maple already gives it away: All shells are made entirely of maple and feature seven layers of wood. This is supported by another concept already known from DW, the Graduated Counter Hoops. Here the diameter of the hoop is adapted to the size of the shell. This means that the thickness of the hoop is adjusted to the size of the shell, so smaller toms are not unnecessarily constricted while larger shells get the stronger hoop they need to focus the sound. A concept taken over from the parent company DW is FinishPly. Here, the foil on the outside of the shell is included in the sound-determining shell construction and the foil is burred like the other wood plies.
