Comprehensive notation software Steinberg enters the second round with Dorico Pro and, in addition to the classic features of notation software, offers new functions and tools that make working easier and thus improve the workflow. This now includes the ability to play a video in sync with the project, add markers and change tempo to compose directly to the image. The familiar graphical automation tools allow changes in tempo, dynamics and MIDI controllers in playback mode, while Ossia staves can be added, complex divisi notation for string sections can be used and the number of staves for an instrument can be determined with the intelligent new staves tools. Slash notation and lazy characters for parts of the rhythm section can now be inserted quickly and efficiently and large-format Hollywood-style time signatures help to quickly capture meter changes in action-packed film music. Also new is the system track for quickly selecting, inserting and deleting material, the helpful selection of tools for arrangers including multi-paste, multi-expand, multi-reduce and tools for scaling existing notes in N-toles of any value, as well as the ability to edit the appearance of playing techniques and notehead sets.
