Description
Two channels of Class A all-tube amplification, perfect for ribbons and large-diaphragm dynamic drivers, with high-end Sowter t... 2 channel tube preamp with extra gain All-tube Class-A preamp Extra low noise tubes Signal path completely free of semiconductors Incredible +75dB gain; optimal for ribbon & dynamic large diaphragm microphones With high quality Sowter input & output transformers O/P trim for pleasant coloration with tube sound ATTEN circuit for deliberate overdriving of the output transformer for additional timbres Higher input impedance than usual -> for crystal clear sound Input impedance switchable from 850Ω (Lo-Z) to 2400Ω (Hi-Z) -20dB pad & +48V phantom power per channel Detented gain and low-cut settings 'HPF' to reduce proximity effect and 'Air' for extra clarity 2 height units (HE) & 19" format Technical data: HPF: slope of 6dB/octave and -3dB attenuation at the selected frequency. Air: set to 10 results in +5dB at 10kHz with a peak at 22kHz Input impedance: Lo: 850Ω // Hi: 2.2kΩ // Pad: 2.2kΩ Output impedance: @0 Atten: 250Ω // @ -7dB: 700 Ω // @ -15dB: 270 Ω Maximum output level: >+26dB Power: 30W Weight: 6kg Secret weapon for ribbon microphones Primarily developed for ribbon microphones, the Snow Petrel from Thermionic Culture delivers up to 75dB of absolutely clean gain. This optimally compensates the known level weakness of ribbon microphones and allows to get the maximum sound out of the microphone. Of course, the Snow Petrel 's range of application is not limited to ribbon microphones. With the settings for low and high impedance (Lo-Z & Hi-Z) as well as the -20dB pad, the Preamp can be excellently adapted to the individual needs of each microphone. Crystal clear sound or custom coloring The Snow Petrel offers an absolutely clean amplification and also still the possibility of creatively influencing the Aduiomaterial. The Low Cut and Air controls can be used to reduce the crosstalk effect or to enhance the high frequencies for more clarity and airiness. With the O/P Trim circuit, slight tube coloration effects of the 2nd harmonic can be realized. It is also possible to achieve saturation effects with the Atten circuit by overdriving the output stage and transformer in a controlled manner.
