The OP-XY impresses visually with its chic, uniform design, which stands out visually with a pronounced grayscale gradient. Even the graphics on the high-resolution Display are all in grayscale. Details such as recording or parameter progressions are displayed in eye-catching colors. This is where minimalism meets efficiency and the device also looks a little sexy. High-quality Hardware and unique features On the hardware side, the OP-XY impresses with two fast Blackfin CPUs and first-class audio converters, which also have plenty of power to make themselves heard. As the housing is based on the OP-1 field, the OP-XY also has a built-in loudspeaker and an integrated microphone. The pressure-sensitive pitch bend controller is located below the plus and Shift buttons. The best argument for literally picking up the OP-XY more often is the 6-axis accelerometer, which can be assigned to various parameters and actions and triggers changes in the sound and/or pattern simply by moving the instrument. The built-in lithium-ion battery has an operating time of up to 16 hours. Synth sounds, sampling & effects The purely digital sound generation is 24-voice multitimbral and contains eight extremely rich synthesizer engines, which are predestined for totally crazy sounds as well as familiar sounds. Three different samplers specialize in drums, multi-samples and synths. As the OP-XY can sample itself via Audio In and the integrated microphone, there is hardly any place where new sample fodder cannot be found. :) Four filter types are available for further processing of the synth and sample engines.
